True Becoming

A New Use for Tumblers

Tumbler Yogurt Cups
I love tumblers, glasses and mugs and tend to run out of space for them all. I try to keep our lil' bar minimal so I tend to keep bar tumblers in the kitchen as well. Last night when I was making yogurt parfaits for dessert, I thought tumblers would be the perfect dessert-size vessel. Yogurt parfaits are so pretty that I like to use clear glass to show 'em off. You could equally use vintage tumblers for any pretty dessert at a dinner party, a wedding, etc. Some other things you can use tumblers for:

* Plants - they would look great with any herbs

* Ice cream dishes - think of how cute they would be with a cherry on top!

* Candy - instead of using bowls, use vintage tumblers

* A Small Vase - a small vase for a desk or a gift

Of course, tumblers also make great vessels for their original intention: happy hour :)

I hope you had a great weekend!!!

Luv t.

*** I make my parfaits by layering plain yogurt, berries and honey (and granola on top). I put a layer of yogurt, then drizzle honey, then berries. Repeat until the vessel is filled and top with granola ***

Friendship

Friendship Ring!
I've always believed that friendship comes in all sort of ages and forms. I have had friends much younger, older, shorter, taller ad I swear I had a special connection with the fish that lived in my sister's bathroom (in a bowl - a fish bowl of course) when I lived there. Admittedly I have been a very good friend, a bad friend, thoughtful, and forgetful. With people, animals and plants the like. But then that's when grace comes in :)

So yesterday one of my neighbour's came in with their young daughter and presented me with this friendship ring {insert extreme happiness}. How cute is that?? It reminded of the good ol' days of friendship bracelets or those lovely hearts that could break in half and each friend would wear a 'best' and the other a 'friend'. Do you remember those?

Friendship comes in all forms and I'm grateful for all my friends, from the young to the cold-blooded.

....... luv t.........

*** I would just like to note this is the second ring I have received this week - I also received another beautiful blue and gold ring from S for my b-day... I adore them both and lucky i have ten fingers :) ***

Life Lately

Life Lately
Hi... how are ya? Let me begin this update by saying how much I have missed blogging. It seems I spoke too soon about returning to some semblance of 'normal'. Do you ever feel like you just can't get your sh** together? Well, that's me lately... running just slightly behind the bus, despite my best efforts. Anyway, I suppose that's why I have always applied the lovely word 'ish' to most things I do... I simply cannot rely on my life being regular (but then that's what keeps it exciting, right?)

I thought after another long stretch I would fill you in on some things in my life lately and, by all means, please do share with me what's happening in your world!!

My life lately has consisted of...

- The pure elation and subsequent faltering associated with being an independent business owner. It's a occupational hazard and even when there are really bad days, there's nothing else I would rather be doing!

- Getting the stomach flu. Ryan and I had plans on going on a romantic one-day road trip this past long weekend. Instead, we got each other ginger-ale and took turns groaning about how we were absolutely certain this was it for us - our time was up. Do you get like that when you have the flu?

- Gardening. I sweat out some of my illness with getting our gardens all purdy-like.

- Dying my hair. I went dark... and it like it!

- Learning. I am learning so very much with this new shop venture and I'm soaking it up like a sponge.

- Dog-sitting. Ry and I had the opportunity to pet-sit again and it was great. I always feel like Snow White with all those creatures around me, and I love it.

- Alex was in a musical performance and I was amazed at how talented he actually is. I mean, I knew, but... wow (I promised I wouldn't share any photos).

- I felt/feel so very much birthday love. Today is my birthday, but the festivities started last weekend and I have felt so loved. I'm very grateful to all the people who have made it special... you know who you are :)

So that's me in a list. How about you? Share, share!!! I was hoping to celebrate this day by writing in my birthday suit given the extreme heat... but have decided it more suited to the shop to simply put on the air conditioning :)

peace & other lovelies to you.......... luv t.

Post Project Depression & Returning to 'Normal'

Laloba Vintage Product Cover Photo
For the past year i have observed, dreamed and conjured... and this past Saturday Laloba Vintage was launched and it felt great to open that door saturday morning. I had left at 4am (that same morning of course) to get a couple of hours of sleep and hated it. It was 4am so i had no one to call, so it was just me and my insane brain driving home. At this point I had had very, very little sleep and so my reserve for negative brain-talk was low. But... by the time i cracked open the door on Saturday i was happy. Being a project-oriented person, I have had a hard time this week with what i refer to as "Post Project Depression"... how i imagine brides feel on their honeymoon. So, I'm struggling to return to some semblance of normal, and it'll feel good to get back into a routine... and sleep :) Laloba Vintage Coming up RosesLaloba Vintage 60's70's DressLaloba Vintage Product Update

Thanks so much for you patience over the past couple of months as I have been very sporadic! I'm very much excited to be back on my daily-ish (with less 'ish) routine of blogging. woo hoo.

luv t.

Shop Sneak Peak (heavy on the peak)

Sneak Peak 1I thought I would stop in and share just a few shots i took around the shop yesterday. I'm all very sneaky and secretive-like when it comes to showing people my progress... so there's just a few snaps. I'm one of those people that likes people to witness the 'ta da' of a project... not the progress. It's probably my perfectionism complex... hmmm. Anyway, enjoy and i hope you have a lovely day! luv t.

*** on a completely unrelated note, there is a teeny, tiny spider creating a web right over... the web (my computer -ha, ha) and I don't have the heart to stop her... she's working so hard and i can appreciate it ***
